Wandsworth Council Silent on Proposal of Battersea Power Station Office Space
Plans for recreation of Battersea Power Station still linger in uncertainty with the silence of Wandsworth Council on the proposal submitted by the developers. There has been no indication, whatsoever, that can suggest the likely mood of the council.
The office space development is going to be a mixed-use plan that will serve all the needs of US embassy workers by the time of completion of the project. It will transform the old building to create premier shared office and residential spaces, a hotel, restaurants and shops, in addition to an onsite zero carbon power station. The original chimneys will also be renovated, and the turbine halls will be converted into exhibitions space.
In addition to the above facilities, it will also provide for an extension to the Northern Line that will give the site good connectivity and thereby attract a lot of attention from individuals and firms looking for office space. Though the proposal sees significant, the enormity of the project, with 8.3m sq ft of floor space and an investment of £5.5b, might make it difficult for the proposal to be passed by the council.
