Silk Scarves and Pashminas – How to Stay Warm at an Autumn Wedding
Shawls are very handy for all kinds of occasions as they are painless to fold up and put away in your handbag if you get too warm. The pashmina wool keeps out the cool weather very well, so rather than dragging around a heavy coat on a cool summer or spring evening, a shawl will suffice as a useful overgarment.
Pashmina shawls are now very fashionable as a wedding accessory for bridesmaids. The last few summers in the United Kingdom have been quite chilly, so perhaps this has boosted this new movement. Gold pashminas as well as cream an white are popular colours for weddings, and look wonderful if all the maids of honor have the same colour shawl. In fact, even sheer, silk scarves have been spotted at wedding ceremonies this year.
With a larger pashmina shawl, it can also transform into a handy blanket for those long trips. And it goes without saying, it can become a scarf for the winter too.
There tends to be two varieties of pashmina shawl – the the 70% pashmina / 30% silk pashmina, and the pure pashmina shawl variety. The mixed shawl you can buy at cheaper prices than the 100% counterpart, but it will be less warm. It’s your choice as to what you want to use your shawl for. Is it only for fashion purposes, and/or also a garment to keep out the chilly weather too? I recommend 100% pashminas to keep out the cold.
